Dear Students,

As winter sets in and the busy research season continues, we at the SCDTP are dedicated to supporting your wellbeing and creating moments of connection and care. That’s why we’re thrilled to continue hosting our meditation session of the academic year this Wednesday from 1–2 pm.

This is your chance to pause, breathe, and recharge—whether you're working from your desk with headphones or have the room to stretch, stand, or lie down. We warmly encourage you to join us for this moment of mindfulness and relaxation.

We are excited to invite you to join the newly formed SCDTP Decolonial Reading Group.

Thank you to everyone who joined the first session of the SCDTP Decolonial Reading Group! We’re excited to continue building this space for collaborative learning and discussion around decolonial theories and their relevance to research and the world at large.

Meeting Details:

  • Frequency: Every 4 weeks on Thursdays
  • Next Date: Thursday, 19th December 2024
  • Time: 1–2 pm
  • Platform: Microsoft Teams ( Teams Link)

This group is open to all students, supervisors, and staff across our institutions. Leadership and participation are shared equally, so please bring your ideas and suggestions for future readings.

Whether you’re continuing the journey with us or joining for the first time, we look forward to another engaging and thought-provoking discussion.

Call for Applications
ESRC SCDTP Postdoctoral Fellowship (PDF) Scheme

The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) is excited to announce the latest call for applications to its Postdoctoral Fellowship (PDF) scheme. This opportunity is designed for those in the immediate postdoctoral stage of their career, offering a chance to consolidate their PhD through developing publications, networks, and research and professional skills.

The PDF scheme is part of ESRC’s strategy to support early career researchers and is delivered through our national network of Doctoral Training Partnerships (DTPs). Fellows must be aligned with an accredited DTP subject area and will benefit from a high-quality research and training environment.

We have yet to open the call for application on our website, below are the important dates for this year application:

  • Application Open: 5 November 2025
  • Full Proposal Deadline: 25 March 2025, 16:00 GMT
  • Fellowship Start Date: 1 October 2025
