At a glance

When: 27 April 2027, 13.00–14.00

Who it is for: SCDTP masters and PhD students, the wider doctoral student body, postdoctoral fellows and supervisors. All welcome, no need to book.

About the series

‘What is…?’ is our monthly online knowledge exchange, held on the last Tuesday of the month and open to everyone in the SCDTP community. Each session brings together three short talks from across the partnership, each one taking a single question and answering it from the speaker’s own field.

The format is deliberately broad – methods, impact, ethics, and the things that cut across all of them. The point is to hear how researchers in other disciplines frame a problem, and to come away thinking a little beyond your own patch. The series is co-led by SCDTP students, and sessions are informal, friendly and a good place to try out an idea.

Programme

The programme for this session is being put together now. Three short talks from across the partnership will be confirmed closer to the date and announced in the SCDTP newsletter.

Speakers wanted. If you would like one of the slots, this is an easy and friendly way to practise talking about your research to people outside your discipline. Get in touch and we will find you a date.

How to join

No need to sign up in advance. The Microsoft Teams joining link will be circulated by email and published here ahead of the session.

If you would like to give a short talk in a future session, or you have a question you think deserves an airing, we would be glad to hear from you – email scdtp@soton.ac.uk.
