What:

The first half of this training course, delivered by Ross English from CHEP, provides an overview of personal effectiveness grounded in Domain B of the Vitae Researcher Development Framework, focusing on personal qualities, self-management, and professional conduct. It introduces key concepts that will help students both in their research and during their placement and highlights further training opportunities and resources for deeper development. In the second half, Emily Wardale from the Careers Service will explore how to maximise the value of a Research in Practice (RIP) placement, offering practical advice on building career skills during the placement and effectively presenting and promoting this experience in CVs and future job applications.

Who the training is for:
Mandatory for first year PhD students and any second year PhD students who couldn’t attend last year. Those at the MSc stage can attend if they wish, or defer until next year.
