Introduction to Reflective practice and the RIP reflective portfolio
Introduction to Reflective practice and the RIP reflective portfolio (for SCDTP-2 Students only)
When: 11th June 11am – 12pm
Where: Online (Teams)
What:
Reflective practice is, in its simplest form, thinking about or reflecting on what you do, and is a vital component of personal and professional learning.
This short, interactive, online session will introduce you to the concept and help you understand ways in which you might use it both in your PhD research and work placement. We will also talk about the reflective portfolio you will need to complete while on your RiP placement, and there will be opportunities to ask questions about it.
This training will be interactive with break out rooms for group work.
The facilitator:
Professor Sarah Neal, Joint Research in Practice lead
Who the training is for: All SCDTP students in their first year, and any in their second year who did not attend last year. This is a required training.
The detail: During the session, you’ll be paired up in an online breakout room to practise reflecting on a real-life event. It doesn’t need to be anything dramatic – just something you’re comfortable to talk about. It could be work-related (like a meeting or presentation) or something from your personal life (like organising a party or trip).
Preparation:
You’ll be guiding your partner through your reflection, so having something in mind beforehand will really help. If you have any worries about this part, please contact Sarah Neal.
It would also be good if you have familiarised yourself with the reflective portfolio assignment and noted any questions as there will be an opportunity to discuss this.
