Imposters, procrastination and impact!
Imposters, procrastination and impact!
When & Where: Wednesday 30 September 2026 9.00-16.00 online
What: Katy Mahoney’s wellbeing training is back by popular demand! At this year’s SCDTP residential students greatly appreciated a day spent focusing on researcher wellbeing. To broaden the benefits of this session to more students we are repeating two of the workshops online for maximum access. You can therefore sign up for either or both of the following online workshops:
a. Imposter busters 9.00-11.00
b. Coach yourself through procrastination 11.15-13.15
We also have a bonus session on making impact.
c. Making Complex Ideas Simple: Using Metaphor and Analogy 14.00-16.00
Facilitators: Dr Katy Mahoney is leader of Researcher Coaching, a professional development programme run by Researcher Coaching Ltd.
Who: This training is for all our SCDTP community. Imposter busters is particularly useful for researchers who feel, despite evident success, overwhelmed or like a fraud. It will support you to cultivate helpful thought patterns and beliefs that build confidence and avoid self-sabotaging behaviours. Coach yourself through procrastination is for procrastinators and explores the main drivers of procrastination. It will help you identify your personal procrastination tendencies and develop practical techniques to use. Making Complex Ideas Simple is for anyone who wants to make their research more accessible, relatable, and engaging as a route to optimising impact. Please note, the morning workshops invite you to reflect on personal experiences of confidence, procrastination, and research-related stress. You are welcome to engage in a way that feels comfortable for you. You may take a break, step away, or simply listen rather than contribute during discussions at any time.
