National Population Projections: Migration Assumptions Development Research – Summary Brief
This project offers a PhD student the opportunity to join the National Population Projections (NPPs) team to support research that enhances the methods used to set international migration assumptions. These assumptions underpin demographic forecasts critical for public policy, funding, and national infrastructure planning.
The placement includes:
- Research into alternative migration-assumption methodologies
- Integration of demographic data into projections
- Exploration of downstream impacts of different modelling approaches
- Experience in applied demographic research and policy-relevant analysis
ONS produces vital statistics informing government planning, public services, and economic forecasting.
