We are hosting a one-day workshop to establish and launch a network for academics based at UK universities who conduct research into sexualities from social scientific perspectives.

The UK is at the forefront of sexuality research and practice but lacks opportunities for researchers to collaborate across institutions or with stakeholders, including charities, clinicians and the public. This impacts the potential for larger scale research, impact and knowledge exchange, limiting potential for sizable funding beyond sexual health frameworks.

This workshop addresses this gap: Enabled by a professional facilitator, and expert academic speakers, the day will include opportunities for networking, collaboration and co-creation with other academics, determining the goals of the network and how to make it happen.

The event is funded by Aston University, in collaboration with the University of Brighton, Nottingham Trent University and the University of Southampton. The event will take place at Aston University (Birmingham) on Friday 11th September 2026, 10am – 4pm.

For those interested, please register your interest and provide your details via the link below. Given the focus on collaboration and co-creation, and the importance of trust and commitment in sexualities research, there are limited spaces available.

This is a full-day workshop and includes lunch and refreshments throughout the day. Registration is £30, with a limited number of bursaries available.

Please feel free to share this email with specific colleagues you think this may of interest to whom would be relevant for this event.
