Organisation summary
We are an independent New Forest charity, serving the community of the New Forest District and are open to everyone who lives or works on the New Forest.
The Southampton and New Forest Citizens Advice are pleased to offer a placement opportunity for 3 months (or part time equivalent) on a hybrid basis, so there would be some time spent working remotely and some in person.
The CAB would like research into the problem and potential solutions, and then thoughts on implementation.
Problems
- How to collect constructive and coherent feedback from a cross-section of clients, across a range of different advice channels.
- How to develop a comprehensive and accessible ‘self service’ offer. Realistically we will never be able to meet demand, so how do we help people to help themselves, but on a shoestring (and bearing in mind significant levels of digital exclusion)?
- How can we harness digital technologies? We are quite constrained by insurers and various quality/accreditation issues, but there must be some clever things we could do to help ourselves.
This opportunity would suit someone interested in social justice/social policy/demography, the Southampton and New Forest Citizens is a very interesting environment to work in, and very large data rich. This placement would offer an overview of the challenges that their clients face on a daily basis. The opportunity to make a difference to a charity working on the ‘front line’ and see your work implemented in reality. The opportunity to make a difference to people in Southampton.
The Southampton and New Forest Citizens Advice will provide you with the tools and resources you need for the placement, you would need to be inducted as a volunteer and go through some compulsory training to access to their database.
