Weโre excited to launch Speaking of Research: the SCDTP podcast, the first official podcast series from the ESRC South Coast Doctoral Training Partnership. This brand-new series highlights the work of our doctoral researchers and explores how their research is making a real impact.
Series One was recorded at our annual conference at Cumberland Lodge in April 2025. In each episode, researchers speak with Catherine McDonald from Research Podcasts about their projects, who might benefit from their work, and the changes they hope to inspire.

๐ Episode 1 โ Now Available
In the opening episode, we meet Sadie Rockliffe, a doctoral researcher from the University of Brighton who is rethinking accessibility in natural environments. Sadie explores how people with visual impairments experience blue spaces such as rivers, lakes, and the sea. Using innovative swim-along interviews, she captures the rich, sensory experiences of her participants while highlighting the physical and societal barriers they face.
Sadie also discusses her collaborative approach to research, which prioritises interdependence and building trust.
