What are the strengths and challenges of different ethnographic approaches in different contexts? Does ethnography only involve an embedded primary researcher or can there be a secondary use for ethnographic studies?
These are some of the questions addressed in our online seminar on 26 April 2022, 2-4pm. Sign up with Eventbrite https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/approaches-to-ethnography-tickets-304975057607
The seminar features 3 speakers:
Katie Brailsford – on the ethnographic techniques she used in her doctoral research at University of Portsmouth
Jesse Shipp – on the process of his ‘at home’ ethnography drawing on his local knowledge and networks during his SCDTP doctoral research at the University of Southampton
John Boswell (Associate Professor in Politics at the University of Southampton) – on his use of meta-ethnography, a method for reviewing and synthesizing the findings of published ethnographic research.
